Senior UI Designer

We’re looking for a full-time Senior UI/UX Designer, you’ll collaborate with strategists, writers, animators, developers, producers, and clients to deliver immersive web experiences, design systems for large websites, UX strategies and everything in between.

Allow us to introduce ourselves

Allow us to introduce ourselves.

We’re Apparent, a full-service, independent agency made up of 140 thinkers, creators and solution-makers doing what we do best. One thing you should know about us: we’ve got an entrepreneurial spirit, and we know the work worth doing doesn’t fit into neat, tidy boxes. And neither should you, for that matter. Our warehouse space in Redfern is here for you to gather, make stuff you’re proud of and grow your strengths (even if they have nothing to do with your job description).

We punch well above our weight, with some of the biggest clients in the world on our roster, from tech giants like Google and VMware, to local icons like Tourism Australia and Cricket Australia. Our approach? We call it the red thread. In other words, it’s the thing that connects everything we do, from the customer, through to the client and brand. On any given day you can expect to cross paths with someone in strategy, brand, creative, content production, social media, UX/UI, technology, and media planning and buying. Oh, and dogs, too. You’ll definitely cross paths with adorable dogs.

A few things you’ll like about working here:

  • A flexible and hybrid working policy
  • Generous parental leave and summer days off
  • Heaps of growth and training opportunities
  • 24/7 access to our employee assistance program for you and your family

The role is to:

  • Work closely with a diverse team of creatives, strategists, producers, fellow designers, and developers.
  • Design wireframes through to dev-ready prototypes for websites with large volumes of content; e-commerce platforms; immersive web experiences and demos; and sites with multiple languages.
  • Implement and iterate on wireframes, mock-ups, designs, and prototypes.
  • Deep dive into content and be able to suggest alternative ways to present complex information.
  • Learn from data to suggest different ways to improve experiences and messaging.
  • Suggest multivariate tests to prove hypotheses.
  • Analyse live data, and output key insights to inform next steps for optimisation.
  • Establish scalable design systems and component libraries for the broader design team to use and build off.
  • Inject the latest and greatest web technologies into our work.
  • Highly communicative, responsive, and collaborative both within the team, stakeholders across the company and clients

Skills you’ll need:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience across real projects, with relevant tertiary education.
  • Experience on an iterative web or product project/s.
  • Intimate knowledge of best practice customer journeys.
  • A background in pairing with developers to ensure front-end animation and interactive details are achievable and well executed.
  • Able to create low-fidelity designs in short design sprints.
  • Ability to create low-fidelity prototypes as proof of concept.
  • Knowledge of designing mobile-first, and a champion of accessibility best practices.
  • Ability to present work with an effective, coherent rationale and narrative.
  • Experience using Spline, Webflow, After Effects, CSS and HTML is a plus.
  • Must possess a strong team orientation and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Train and mentor Junior UI Designer as required.
